The Photonics Laboratory
The Photonics Lab aims at delivering compact and energy saving integrated laser-diode based devices and solutions for applications requiring light spanning the ultraviolet to the visible and near-infrared regime. A plethora of practical laser-based solutions have produced a new class of innovative multi-function laser devices.
The Photonics Lab also provides innovative solutions for agricultural, ecological, marine, and structural problems through distributed fiber-optic sensing and communication technologies.
The Photonics Lab is a research group led by Khawarizmi Distinguished Professor Boon Ooi, also a founding faculty member. The group consists of 20+ members including research scientists, post-doctoral fellows, lab engineers, and Ph.D. and M.S. students. as well as regularly hosting interns and visiting students/scholars of all academic levels.
