From 2000 to 2002, he was an Assistant Lecturer at the Physics Department, University of Malaya. Currently, he is working as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Oxford, United Kingdom.

His research focuses on the usage of nanophotonics to enhance light amplification and manipulation for optoelectronic devices. He has demonstrated the use of subwavelength gratings, photonic crystals and DBR reflectors in edge-emitting and surface-emitting light emitters (III-V, III-nitride, and hybrid perovskites based lasers and LEDs) and solar cells (hybrid perovskites). His other research interests include nanofabrication process development (focused-ion beam & electron beam lithography methods), optical properties investigation using spectroscopic ellipsometry and numerical modeling for optoelectronic devices.

To date, he has authored/co-authored more than 100 journals and proceedings papers and has more than 10 patents and industrial designs filed. He was the recipient of various international-, national- and organizational-level awards due to his active contributions in research fields and technology management. He served as reviewers for various reputable journals such as Applied Physics Letters, Journal of Photonics for Energy, RSC Advances, The Journal of Physical Chemistry, IEEE Photonics Journal, IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, and Applied Physics A: Material Science & Processing.
