Rozalina Zakaria

About

Rozalina Zakaria is currently a Senior Lecturer in Photonics Research Centre, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She received her Ph.D. (Laser Physics) from the University of Hull, the United Kingdom in 2009, MSc (Applied Physics) from the University of Malaya in 2002 and BSc (Physics) from the University of Putra Malaysia in 2000. She was an assistant lecturer from 2002-2004 at the University of Malaya before pursue her Ph.D. degree in the UK.

She was appointed as a Visiting Researcher at the National University of Singapore (NUS) from 2011-2012 in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore. She involved in the Plasmonics, Nanophotonics and Laser-Matter Interaction research there.

Her research was focused on plasmonics and nanophotonics fabrication and application in devices. Her research involved the fabrication and integration of plasmonics materials in a device such as Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED), Organic Solar Cell and fiber as a sensor application. Her interest is also contemplating the use of laser in liquid, nonlinear optics, plasmonics waveguide, and graphene plasmonics in the telecommunication region. To date, she has supervised 3 Ph.D. and 5 MSc students with 2 Ph.D. students is still on-going. She has also authored/co-authored for more than 30 journals.

She had received the Excellent Academic Award (APC) recently from the University of Malaya and a member of the IEEE Photonics Society since 2010.
